Terms of Service
1. Who we are
Pocket Budget is operated by FamilyNexus, a UK-based service run by Aaron Sutton. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@familynexus.co.uk.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using Pocket Budget, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
3. The service
Pocket Budget is a web-based household budgeting tool that lets you track income and expenses, share finances with a partner, set savings goals, and export your data. We offer a free tier and paid subscription plans (Solo Pro and Couples).
We reserve the right to modify, update or discontinue features with reasonable notice. We will always give existing subscribers adequate notice of significant changes.
4. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You must provide accurate information when registering.
- One person, one account — accounts are not transferable.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately at hello@familynexus.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised access.
5. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans (Solo Pro and Couples) are billed on a monthly or annual basis through Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
- Monthly plans renew automatically each month on the same calendar date.
- Annual plans renew automatically each year on the same calendar date.
- Prices are shown in GBP and are inclusive of any applicable VAT.
- We will notify you by email at least 7 days before any price change takes effect on your subscription.
- Failed payments may result in your account being downgraded to the free tier.
6. Free trial
New subscribers may receive a free trial period as advertised on the pricing page. No payment is taken during the trial. At the end of the trial your payment method will be charged unless you cancel before the trial ends.
Free trials are available once per customer. Creating multiple accounts to obtain multiple trials is not permitted.
7. Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Profile page in the app (Profile → Manage subscription). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain access until then.
Cancelling your subscription does not delete your account or data. To delete your account and all associated data, go to Profile → Delete account.
8. Refunds
Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription and receive a full refund, unless you have already started using the service. By accessing paid features after subscribing, you agree to waive this cooling-off period and acknowledge that the service has begun.
Outside of this statutory right, subscription fees are generally non-refundable for the current billing period. We will consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis — contact hello@familynexus.co.uk and we'll do our best to help.
If we discontinue the service, we will provide a pro-rata refund for any unused subscription period.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape or abuse the service.
- Use the service to store or share illegal content.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
10. Household sharing (Couples plan)
The Couples plan allows two people to share a household. One person subscribes and invites a partner. Both users get full access while the subscription is active. The subscribing user is responsible for the subscription fee. If the subscription ends, both users revert to the free tier.
Budget data entered by either partner within a shared household is visible to both. If you leave a household, your data remains associated with your account and is no longer visible to your former partner.
11. Intellectual property
Pocket Budget and all associated software, design and content is owned by FamilyNexus. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the service for personal, non-commercial household budgeting.
The data you enter (budget entries, savings goals, chat messages) remains yours. You can export it at any time from your profile.
12. Data and privacy
How we handle your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. By using Pocket Budget, you agree to the collection and use of your data as described there.
13. Limitation of liability
Pocket Budget is provided "as is". We take data security seriously and back up your data regularly, but we cannot guarantee the service will be available 100% of the time or that it will be error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FamilyNexus is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us during that period.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
